Our Story

Mastering Rope Sewing was created with a simple yet powerful idea: to share the art of sewing with rope and empower others to get hands on experience and understand this unique craft by following a logical sequence, while having all the information in one place, saving time and energy researching to find the "How To". The program will show you how to do this quickly and most important, with fabulous results. Participants get primed with the basics and soon can design their own creations.

 

It all began when our founder, Nancy Stier, was introduced to the world of rope-based designs. The creativity and versatility of these pieces caught her eye, inspiring her to explore the craft and eventually create her own collection.

As Nancy dove deeper into the art of sewing with rope, she was amazed by the numerous designs she could create—from home décor items to fashion pieces. Inspired by the endless possibilities, she mastered techniques that allowed her to recreate these designs and make her own, achieving high-quality, professional results. Her creations blend creativity with functionality, showcasing the versatility of rope in crafts that don’t look 'crafty,' but rather refined and artful.

What started as a hobby soon grew into a rewarding venture. Amongst friends, her creations sparked such interest that they wanted to place orders themselves! Seeing the income potential, she rented shelf space in a collaborative boutique to display her collection, which attracted orders from both shoppers and other vendors.

 

Reflecting on her own learning experience, she wanted to share a quicker, more accessible path to mastering the craft. She realized that others might not have the time or resources to spend countless hours researching and piecing together information from scattered sources. By offering guidance, she hoped to give others more time to focus on creating designs without wasting time and materials on failed projects.

This insight sparked the creation of Mastering Rope Sewing, an online course structured to make learning accessible, efficient, and affordable. Nancy invested considerable time and effort into researching, watching videos, and exploring various sources online—work that she knew would be far more effective if all essential knowledge were available in one place. That’s why she designed Mastering Rope Sewing as a comprehensive, all-in-one program that guides learners step-by-step, from basic techniques to advanced designs.

To make this vision a reality, Nancy founded Studio Stitch Online, where each module of the course is thoughtfully developed by Nancy herself, built in a logical sequence that takes the guesswork out of learning.
